Reading List

Growing up, I was never the type of student who actually did the assigned reading in high school.  Like many of my peers, I scrounged around for SparkNotes and CliffsNotes reading just enough to survive my next class.  Looking back on how I approached reading early in life, I have a few regrets.  Now that I'm a little older and have a mature approach to education, I find myself discovering books much later in life than I should be.

Below is a sample of books which I feel have greatly influence my worldview, leadership-style, or simply stimulated my appetite to continue reading.  If someone came to me today asking for a book suggestion, I would probably start with one of these titles:

Classics:

  1. 1984 by George Orwell
  2. The Ugly American by Eugene Burdick and William Lederer
  3. The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli
Politics and Military:
  1. Black Hawk Down by Mark Bowden
  2. Fiasco by Thomas E. Ricks
  3. The Looming Tower by Lawrence Wright
  4. One Bullet Away by Nathaniel Fick
Other:
  1. Blink by Malcolm Gladwell
  2. Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
  3. The Passion of Command by Bryon Mccoy
My reading list is constantly growing and evolving; I'll more than likely never reach the end of it.  Nevertheless, I'd be happy to hear some suggestions from you on what I should read next.
